Five top marketers receive IDM Fellowships
The Institute of Direct Marketing has awarded its highest accolade to five leading marketers for their exceptional contribution to the direct and digital marketing profession.
This year's IDM Honorary Fellowships have been awarded to Chris Barraclough, Creative Partner, Barraclough Edwards Chamberlain; Mike Havard, formerly Managing Director, Verint Consulting; Amanda Phillips, CEO, Proximity London; Professor Merlin Stone; and Heather Westgate, Chief Executive of TDA.
The new Honorary Fellows received their awards at the IDM Annual Lunch, where they were presented by guest speaker and former Managing Director of the Evening Standard, Anthony Hilton.
A further prestigious award was presented to David Cheek, Managing Director of David Cheek and Associates, for his outstanding work in inspiring young people to enter the direct marketing profession.
Cheek became IDM Educator of the Year 2008.
All the award recipients paid tribute to friends and colleagues who have supported them in their work, none more fitting than Mike Havard, who was unable to attend due to a prior mountaineering commitment - but sent the following message: "For every photo of a summiteer, such as an IDM Fellow I suppose, there has been a committed team that put that individual there to benefit from the limelight.
"And my case is no exception - I have worked with some fantastic, inspiring, professional and lovely people through the years.
"Thank you to them, and thank you to the IDM for believing in this industry, shaping and professionalising it and moving it forwards, and preparing us all for the future.
"I look forwards to using this Fellowship well and continuing my support".
IDM Honorary Fellowships are reserved for just a handful of inspirational marketers each year.
In previous years this highly prized accolade has been bestowed upon the likes of Drayton Bird, Lester Wunderman, Sir Keith Mills and Sir Martin Sorrell.
