Exstatik win Gold at the W3 Awards

Exstatik, the new media arm of Intermarketing and Communications, has won Gold in the Financial Sector for an innovative driving range golf game, designed and built for UCB Home Loans.

The Gold award was honoured by the W3 Awards, sanctioned by the International Academy of Visual Arts, which recognises the power of web creativity.

Each year UCB Home Loans exhibit at a range of mortgage exhibitions.

The brief was to create a theme and various communication devices that would act to entice visitors to their stand.

It had to be fun, interactive and most importantly provide effective data capture for onward marketing campaigns.

Exstatik took this brief and developed a touch screen game, which simulated a golf driving range, ideal for the target market of financial brokers.

The game required players to touch the screen to acquire power and accuracy in an attempt to get the maximum amount of yards for their swing.

The winner's prize was a Sony PSP complete with Tiger Woods game.

The W3 Awards, which were announced on 15 October by the International Academy of Visual Arts in Los Angeles, honour outstanding websites, web marketing and web video created by some of the best interactive agencies, designers and creators worldwide.

Exstatik was one of 2,700 entries.

W3 is the first major web competition to be accessible to anyone, meaning that small firms are competing against international agencies.

Other winners included the BBC, Big Spaceship, Preloaded and the Disney Channel.

Steven Burles, MD of Exstatik, said: "UCB and ourselves are delighted to have won a W3 Gold award for this game - just having second thoughts now as to whether we should have used ourselves as the players".

Intermarketing has been working with UCB Home Loans for more than seven years providing a range of services including media planning and buying and responsive marketing solutions.

Exstatik have experience across a wide range of clients including Sony Europe, adidas and Dollond and Aitchison.
