Alienware has teamed up with Intel to launch a new multi-language viral game 'Hyperblast', through digital communications agency Inbox Digital.

The game aims to drive awareness of the Alienware/Intel platform as the best multi-core gaming platform, whilst driving traffic to the Alienware site and encourging sign-ups to the Alienware newsletter with 20-40 year old, technology-savvy, brand conscious men who like playing the latest games and owning the best hardware Mat Bettinson, UK marketing manager, Alienware, commented: "Enabling our first foray into viral marketing, Inbox Digital has come up with a fast-paced and visually stunning game that communicates the excitement of our gaming systems and Intel's dual/quad core technology to our target audience, hooking them in to beat their friend's scores, whilst allowing us to capture important profile data and drive traffic to our website"

Chris Emerson, European marketing manager, Intel Corporation, commened: "The synergy of Intel's latest ground-breaking technology and Alienware's award-winning Desktop and Notebook Systems is a match made in heaven.

"Inbox Digital has made the dream to jointly take this message to the online community through a unique viral game a reality.

"I hope everyone enjoys playing Hyperblast as much as I do".

In the tri-level Tron-style game the player's challenge is to race a spaceship around a futuristic track as quickly as possible, whilst dodging or destroying drone ships along the way and collecting bonus points to gain speed and collect weapons.

Players are encouraged to collect power-ups for boosts, special weapons (including homing missiles) and a super Hyperblast weapon that alters the track and destroys everything in the player's path.

The single, dual and quad level tracks get progressively harder with access to the next track determined by the player's completion time and score.

On unlocking the dual track, players are invited to sign up to the Alienware newsletter for the chance to win one of 20 Alienware T-shirts per week.

When the player unlocks the quad track, which requires a significantly high score, they will be invited to enter the grand prize to win an Alienware Area-51-M9750 laptop worth GBP2,000.

Oli Christie, creative director, Inbox Digital, commented: "For this action-packed, retro sci-fi beauty we've used real-time 3D flash modelling - a first for the industry - to bring to life the polish, performance and fun of the Alienware/Intel platform - the daddy of gaming".
