Online shops must prepare for Christmas rush
Central product databases are the key to success for companies wanting to maximise their e-commerce opportunities this Christmas, believes e-commerce vendor hybris.
Russel Coultart, Managing Director of Digital Stores, said: "Our business has expanded rapidly within our traditional music related retail area with The Beatles official website and Ministry of Sound recently signing up for our services.
"We have also been working to provide online retail services for broadcasters and already have Cartoon Network and Sonic, part of the Jetic network, as customers.
"The hybris e-commerce suite has been key in allowing us to expand our business and also the types of services we can support".
Digital Stores has also developed its business into supporting children's character brands such as Bob The Builder, Postman Pat, Thomas The Tank Engine and Scooby Doo, which are among its customers.
The company has also started to provide wholesaling services to some of its clients, especially in the music business, that allow it to sell large quantities of products, such as CDs, to certain identified customers at wholesale prices.
Digital Stores is also able to offer customers who visit its online sites the ability to either get immediate goods in stock and get delivery of other items when they arrive, or get delivery when all the items they want are in stock.
"The reason we are able to offer these sophisticated retail solutions to our customers is because of the flexibility and scalability of the hybris e-commerce suite," said Coultart.
"Working with our IT consultancy, and approved hybris partner, exedio, we have been able to develop very sophisticated functionality into the platform to support features such as multiple pricing and customer recognition, allowing us to sell tickets as well as merchandise for customers such as Ministry of Sound, and to expand the types of businesses we can provide our services to".
In addition to its turnover increasing at around 50% year on year, Digital Stores also plans to move in to new warehouse facilities that are four times bigger than their existing premises to support the expansion they expect in their business in the next one to two years.
"Hybris is a cornerstone of our success and we expect their e-commerce solution to continue to support our rapid expansion in coming months and years," Coultart concluded.
Ariel Ludi, CEO of hybris, said: "Digital Stores' success is down to its ability to adapt and look for opportunities in the market as well as providing an excellent service to its customers.
"Hybris has supported this expansion by providing Digital Stores with an e-commerce solution that is as adaptable and scaleable as their business".
