Marlow-based ad agency HPS has developed a series of humorous press and poster ads for regional weekly newspaper the Maidenhead Advertiser.

The four ads feature deliberately misleading, tabloid-style headlines, such as 'Hooker scores 3 times in 5 minutes' and 'Councillor found with beautiful escort', to raise awareness of to the paper's online publication.

Each headline is supported by an explanatory subhead.

The 'Hooker scores 3 times in 5 minutes' ad carries the subhead 'Rugby and other local sport' while 'Cars for sale' clarifies the 'Councillor found with beautiful escort' line.

The final strap-line across all four ads, 'You get more than news online at maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk', highlights the wide range of online content.

Maidenhead Advertiser website manager Greg Paine said: "While the readership of our printed paper has remained steady, our website traffic is still growing.

"We are confident that this campaign will accelerate the pace of that growth and are targeting a 50 per cent increase in traffic to 12,000 visitors per week over the next six months.

"We love the humorous approach that HPS has come up with - the creative really stops people in their tracks and the message is right on target".

The campaign runs from June using 48-sheets, phone boxes, Ad-vans and the Advertiser itself to reach residents in Maidenhead and surrounding areas.

HPS is a media-neutral communications group working across a number of business-to-business and consumer sectors.

Its client list includes BMW, Rolls Royce, MINI, Mazda, BMI Healthcare and Virgin Lifestyle.
