The latest version of Harte-Hanks Global Address software now includes international geospatial proximity, routing and mapping functionality.

Harte-Hanks Global Address, the international address quality software from Harte-Hanks (NYSE:HHS), has released a new version with geospatial modules that enable users to "find my nearest", plan a route from A to B and perform mapping functions The new proximity, routing and mapping modules are made possible through new geographical coordinate (geocode) data sets now available in the Global Datastore, which is owned and maintained by Harte-Hanks Global Address

The Datastore, a repository of address data for 238 nations and territories, now contains geocode data for 35 countries.

Harte-Hanks Global Address can supply the new proximity, routing and mapping functions for most of these countries, among them: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong (China), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Each function has a variety of uses.

Proximity: Proximity functionality can be tailored according to client requirements, for example, some businesses will want to use Harte-Hanks Global Address to estimate travel distances and costs between warehouse and customer locations; others will be able to tell their customers where their nearest store, dealer, service centre or restaurant is located.

The proximity functionality runs on many database systems such as Oracle and SQL.

Routing: The routing application determines the shortest and fastest routes, travel distances and times.

It will calculate routes through networks of map data such as roads, railways, paths, telecommunications, pipelines and similar networks, for example, taxi firms and freight logistics companies can use Harte-Hanks Global Address to provide quotes based on distance by road, for utility companies planning cable installations and simply for finding the fastest routes.

It offers high levels of performance for web solutions.

Mapping: The mapping function offers a diversity of end-user mapping applications, such as: analysing customer locations; power line distribution and transmission management; forestry management; and railway infrastructure management.

"One of our clients is implementing the routing module so it can improve its international express delivery service, while a telecoms client will be able to map signal masts and the extent of its surrounding transmission areas.

The new software release supports all leading UNIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms, including Microsoft Vista.
