GMC platform streamlines customer communications

GMC Software Technology has launched three products that facilitate personalised, multi-channel communications at the Print 09 event in Chicago, US.

While printed communications still play a strong role in a customer communications strategy, marketers have found that a multi-channel or cross-media approach delivers better results than print or electronic mediums alone.

To support this trend, GMC has developed a centralised customer communications platform that allows companies to streamline communications, leverage their investments in customer relationship management (CRM) and prospect databases, control messaging and brand, while still saving money.

The framework includes tools for data management and document design; managing media and metrics; web-portal development for collaboration and interactive customer communications; managing multimedia production as well as service and training.

GMC Designer 6.0, GMC Portalbuilder and GMC Open Document Publisher provide both enterprise users and print service providers with a single source end-to-end solution for multi-channel customer communications as an alternative to disparate products from multiple vendors.

GMC Designer 6.0 is said to enable the creation, management and production of complex personalised documents for transpromo, direct marketing, on-demand publishing, customer correspondence and transactional applications.

Recent enhancements have improved its colour management proofing and pre-flight capabilities and facilitate repurposing of legacy print streams.

GMC Portalbuilder is claimed to simplify the process and opens the door for organizations to implement efficient, web-enabled storefronts for the creation, ordering, management and printing of personalised variable data documents and integrated, personalised multi-channel campaigns.

As a result, GMC said enterprises gain more flexibility and faster results by having easier access to all the variable components they need and users can enjoy centralised brand management and messaging as well as cost control with decentralised creation, order entry and output.

GMC Open Document Publisher is a server-side application that turns output management into a productivity generator and accommodates the expanding range of applications, unpredictable volume fluctuations, reporting demands and fluid delivery requirements for both print service providers and enterprise in-plants.

In addition, Open Document Publisher collects, sorts, merges and dispatches variable data documents according to business rules.

Using standards-based workflow automation, users achieve cost reduction, process optimisation and operational efficiency for all document applications.
