JJB Sports commissions product info touch screens
JJB Sports has commissioned Green Room Retail Design to design, prototype and manufacture their first networked retail product information system.
The campaign will run in stores across the UK and Ireland and will act as a brand extension of the JJB Sports TV channel which went live earlier this year.
The clever concept utilises touch-screen technology to deliver selected product details and pricing which the customer will have viewed initially within the context of the TV broadcast.
The Info Point area is essentially a touch screen unit that is flexibly designed to integrate into a wide variety of existing schemes and to be fixable to all types of wall display.
ABS black powder-coated steel has been used to manufacture the body of the unit with vinyl graphics added according to the requirement of the product area.
Green Room Retail delivered an initial sample selection of the new fixtures directly to flagship locations at key times which coincided with the project launch.
The remainder of the connected locations have rolled out gradually with JJB's in-house IT teams gradually increasing the network across the two territories.
Mark Heaton of JJB Sports said: "It has surprisingly been an absolute dream of an installation; the dedication, careful strategising and reactive nature of Green Room Retail's engagement with our needs has been second to none.
"This had been a complex roll-out across multiple locations with specific retail access issues.
"Green Room Retail have worked seamlessly with both our IT and distribution staff to ensure that this project has been a resounding success.
"The in-store reaction to the new units has also been excellent and product uptake has increased as a direct result".
The project has so far seen 500 Info Points delivered, installed and connected to the new JJB Sports network.
The intention is for the product information points to become part of a more complex modular system.
Green Room Retail is currently in talks with JJB Sports about allied design work which will evolve over the remainder of the year.
