GFK database tracks consumer electronics sales

GFK Retail and Technology has launched Digital World, a service that uses a database of actual, real-time sales to track and analyse all technical consumer goods.

Working with the Consumer Electronics Association, the comprehensive global database allows all those with an interest in the IT, Telco and consumer electronics markets to compare, contrast and forecast their portfolios in detail.

The data is sourced directly from more than 400,000 retailers across the world.

With the launch of Digital World, GFK will make worldwide product reports available on a monthly basis.

With access to a wide spectrum of information, the company can create annual forecasts that will provide the industry with a clear, fact-based view of the digital universe and a window into future trends and developments.

Digital World is expected to be of interest to manufacturers, distributors and government officials among others, who will be able to understand worldwide demand for electronic goods, analyse competitor performance and gain insight into the consumer behaviour of countries and regions.
