The Gherkin is a funky classic
30 St Mary Axe, affectionately known as "The Gherkin", has joined Funkyvenues.com, the award-winning site showcasing cool and unique spaces for hire.
This spectacular 40-storey venue, designed by world-renowned architect Lord Foster, is London's fifth tallest building and possibly the City's most crudely distinctive landmark.
As for getting truly pickled, it's alleged that "The Gherkin" now boasts the highest bar in the capital.
With a collection of venue spaces or private dining rooms on the 38th floor right up to the stunning bar and restaurant in the glass atrium at 39th and 40th, 30 St Mary Axe is a jewel in London's crown and features spectacular views over London.
The building at 30 St Mary Axe has a range of small and large spaces on its top three floors that accommodate meetings, events and parties of all sizes.
The most intimate hireable spaces in 30 St Mary Axe are found in the Private Dining Rooms on its 38th floor.
Each room features black leather pad chairs round tables and royal blue carpets and each boasts a different spectacular view over London.
The jewel in the building's crown - almost literally - is the 39th floor private restaurant and 40th floor bar.
This double-height space features a southwest-facing restaurant on its lower level and up a spiral staircase (or in the glass lift) London's highest bar.
