Flirtomatic passes 100m monthly WAP impressions
Flirtomatic, the UK-based mobile and online flirting service, has announced a sharp rise in mobile usage rates, with more than 100 million WAP impressions for the month of August.
Users are finding and using the feature faster than any other paid-for feature of the service.
The launch follows a week-long beta phase, which saw such promising results that Flirtomatic has decided to keep the feature permanently.
The feature is part of a growing list of the site's value-added services available to users to purchase.
The development of this new feature is a direct result of user feedback.
Flirtomatic found that up to 40 per cent of mobile users voluntarily filled in a postcode in their profiles.
The new feature allows flirters to search by location for other users to in a minimum five-mile radius.
It also allows them to see where other flirters are if they have volunteered their location.
Mark Curtis, CEO of Flirtomatic, commented: "Already the location feature is jointly as popular as our 'who's rated me' service, and to be honest, we didn't expect it to be quite this popular, or we'd have added it some time ago".
Curtis continued: "There has been a lot of speculation about the future of location-based services on mobile.
"Our success suggests that the enthusiasm - if the idea meets the need - is not misplaced".
