The organisers of the FINA World Swimming Championships have announced a host of official suppliers to support the event.

Kelloggs, Pure, GMG Radio, Serco and Northern Rail have all been added to a burgeoning list of impressive partners for the event, as the countdown to the championships continues The deals, brokered by Fast Track, the market-leading sports events, communication, consulting and rights marketing agency, join the previously announced tie up with the Manchester Evening News, and are sure to further enhance the profile of the first major global sporting championships to be held in Manchester since the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and the UK's biggest swimming event since the 1948 Olympics

With just under six months until competition begins in earnest at Manchester's MEN arena from Wednesday 9 April 2008 to Sunday 13 April 2008, Fast Track is also in talks to fill the remaining commercial opportunities, particularly the only two available at national partner level.

Further announcements regarding other suppliers joining the partner family are expected in the coming weeks.

The new deals are as follows: Kelloggs, official sponsor of British Swimming for 10 years, has been confirmed as the official cereal of the championships.

As well as providing valuable support to ensure the event leaves a lasting legacy for the North West, it will be investing in the training of three female life guards and 48 youngsters to obtain their swimming helpers certificate with the hope that at least half of these go on to the Young Leaders course and eventually qualify as swim teachers.

Serco Leisure, which manages 13 leisure facilities in Manchester alone, including the Aquatic Centre, official training venue for the championships, will be working closely with over 35 local swimming clubs to support the development of the sport and encourage participation in swimming.

It will also provide every ticket holder for the championships the opportunity to a free swim at any of the leisure centres and swimming pools they manage across the country, a total of nearly 60.

Northern Rail, which operates local and regional train services across the north of England and is the only train operator serving Manchester Victoria station, has been announced as the official regional rail partner of the championships.

Northern Rail will advertise the event across all its stations and will support the promotion of the event through door to door distribution to over 220,000 homes across the Northern network.

105.4 Century FM, part of the GMG Radio network, is confirmed as official radio partner for the championships, and will be helping to spread the word about the event to hundreds of thousands of listeners across the North-West, with a partnership including on-air and off-air support initiatives taking place in the run-up to the event.

Pure, one of the largest multipurpose venues in the North-West and the first non-smoking nightclub to open in Manchester in June 2006, will become the official hospitality venue for the 9th FINA World Swimming Championships 2008, hosting the official aftershow party for the events participants, sponsors, partners and volunteers on Sunday 13 April as well as offering all spectators over 18 free admission to the nightclub during the Championships.

Marc Hope, director of Rights Marketing at Fast Track, said: "I'm thrilled to welcome these five partners to the growing sponsor family, we are proud to have them on board - they will play a very special role in ensuring the championships are both a huge success and leave a lasting legacy.

"We are in advanced conversations with other potential partners and there is still time to become involved in the UK's biggest swimming event since the 1948 Olympics and make the most of their company's involvement in the build-up to Beijing 2008 and London 2012".

The eyes of the world will be on Manchester as 650 athletes from 120 countries will take part in this five-day event, which will be the first FINA World Swimming Championship to ever be staged in the UK.

Manchester always does things differently and it promises to be like no other swim meet with two huge temporary pools being built in one of the country's most popular concert venues - The Manchester Evening News Arena.

Head of PR for the championships, is the five times World Swimming Champion and Mancunian James Hickman.

He said: "It's fantastic news that we can announce these official partners for the 9th FINA World Swimming Championships; some of the planet's best swimmers will use the Championships to hone their skills for the Olympic Games in Beijing just a few months later and with the help of our partners the event promises to be an incredible experience.

"The fact the championships are being held in a concert venue will add to the anticipation - with the addition of lighting and sound effects it will be very rock and roll".
