Event planner offers ideas for events in Spain

With the aim of promoting Andalusia as a national and international event destination, Event Planner Spain was launched at the end of October 2006 by a multinational multidisciplinary team.

Andalusia figures among one of Europe's most popular meeting and event destinations for sound reasons.

Besides a staggering variety of landscapes, an excellent climate, delicious cuisine, renowned wines and unique traditions, the region offers a broad range of quality venues and services for organising events of all types.

Nevertheless, if there was one thing that was lacking, then that was a commission- and registration-free portal offering event organisers from Spain and abroad a comprehensive range of event-related resources throughout Andalusia and the chance to engage the services of suppliers directly.

Event Planner Spain, owned by a Malaga-based company, does just that.

But, unlike a business directory, it offers event organisers, be they professionals, in-house event managers or just someone who wants to organise a private celebration, a free telephone and email enquiry service in English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish, should they need assistance in finding a suitable venue, engaging the services of the suppliers of their choice, or simply general information.

Additional services include a segmented news and events section in English and Spanish, covering the industry's main fairs both in Spain and abroad, local and regional news, member contributions, articles on e-marketing and technology, and expert opinions, as well as a section devoted to last-minute offers and packages, and a monthly newsletter.

Twelve months after being launched, Event Planner Spain has more than 400 members, including all types of venues, from spa and meeting hotels and golf resorts to heritage buildings, charming hotels and haciendas, and a great variety of organisers, including destination management companies, professional congress organisers, incentive houses, team-building agencies and party organisers, and professional suppliers, such as caterers, audio-visual services, event personnel agencies, translators, advertising and PR agencies, show organisers, and transport and production companies.

Our medium-term objective is for Event Planner Spain to become a benchmark for congress and meeting organisation in Andalusia, and our target for 2007 is to surpass the 500-member mark and promote the portal's services in Spain, Europe, Russia and North America.
