The management structure of ESSA has been examined closely and an internal promotion sees Chris Skeith take on the position of ESSA Director.

Chris Skeith had been AEC Deputy Director and EIA Project Director since November 2006, having joined the association to lead initiatives such as sustainability, governmental lobbying and academia and tackling technical and operations issues.

On completion of the AEC merger with BECA, Skeith assumed the role of ESSA Deputy Director and his experience and knowledge gained over the last 18 months at both AEC and ESSA sees him perfectly placed to drive ESSA forward as Director.

Skeith will take on responsibility for overseeing the delivery of the ESSA business plan and managing a team of six working in a variety of areas covering events, marketing and promotions, sales, technical and other spheres.

Commenting on Skeith's promotion, ESSA Chair Mark Lamont said: "I am delighted that Chris has agreed to take on the role of ESSA Director, the experience he brings to this role will be invaluable and I look forward to working closely with him in the coming months".

ESSA Vice Chair Steve Barratt added: "Over the last 18 months Chris has grown in his role and is in the perfect position to take the new association forward to greater heights.

"We have a packed year ahead with new events, new working groups and issues to face and Chris' dedication will serve the association well".

Austen Hawkins, ESSA Commercial Director, stated: "Chris is a talented individual and the tact and vision that he displayed during the merger proved that he is more than capable to take on this next step in his career".

Skeith commented: "It is a great honour for me to take on this role and I am very excited about the job ahead of me.

"I'm looking forward to strengthening the voice of ESSA in the event community, driving membership growth and tackling the issues that face this sector.
