Marketing roadshow specialist Event Marketing Solutions (EMS) is celebrating a record start to 2008 - with GBP2.4 million of new business secured since January.

Combined with GBP2 million of retained business, the new contracts put the company on course to exceed its best-ever year of trading in 2007 (GBP4 million turnover).

The success comes despite the gloomy economic climate associated with the so-called 'credit crunch'.

The contract wins include a GBP500,000 project - as yet undisclosed - to manage a major internal communications roadshow for a national brand, plus a series of health awareness roadshows including a new campaign for the British Heart Foundation.

EMS Managing Director Keith Austin said: "Despite marketing budgets coming under increasing pressure, we look set to deliver a record year in 2008.

"In a climate where conventional advertising campaigns are being squeezed, face-to-face activity offers a high-profile and cost-effective alternative - and in many cases a far better way of reaching very specific target audiences".

He added: "These results confirm EMS' position as the UK's leading provider of vehicle-based roadshow campaigns.".
