UK businesses 'crippled by compliance fears'
As compliance issues top the list of web content managers' concerns, e-Spirit has launched PDF Professional.
The specialist software company undertook the research to discover the problems faced by business web, mobile and data users.
It found that compliance is creating a regulatory minefield for companies' around content.
To help combat the millions of potentially illegal web pages and documents in the UK, e-Spirit has launched PDF Professional.
The new FirstSpirit module enables users to edit content at one central location - so they can comply with both corporate design standards and government regulation.
Through powerful audit tools, companies can roll back their documents to previous states of evolution, providing a complete history of content - including exact references, external documents and datasources.
Robert Bredlau, international director of business development at e-Spirit, commented: "Many companies are being increasingly crippled by compliance fears, being faced with a combination of huge amounts of unstructured data and increasingly strict regulation.
"PDF Professional allows content managers to address document management and compliance issues," he continued.
"PDF documents can be updated centrally, ensuring compliance and standardisation across all media".
E-Spirit will be demonstrating FirstSpirit PDF Professional at Internet World 2008.
The current version supports Acrobat Forms, PDF 1.3 through PDF 1.7, PDF/X and PDF/A in addition to Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew and Arabic.
PDF Professional is based on the XSL Formatter.
This was developed by the Antenna House software company.
PFD Professional is already successfully used (in combination with FirstSpirit) by numerous companies.
The prerequisite for using FirstSpirit PDF Professional is a FirstSpirit server on one of the platforms supported by FirstSpirit.
PDF Professional generates documents from templates defined in XSL-FO and the content available in the CMS.
It supports not just regions, margins and areas but also the width, height and sequence of pages as well as paragraphs, lists, tables, indexes and much more.
With FirstSpirit and PDF Professional, texts can be typeset in any languages with any text directions.
Languages can be used in combination, even if each line has a different text direction.
