Truck and Bus World Forum rides into
Lyon
The first Truck and Bus World Forum 2007 will be held at the Palais de Congres in Lyon in southeastern France in December.
The event will address topics related to goods distribution and public transport in urban areas as well as the economics of sustainable transport systems The main focus will be on "transport for a better life," and there will be special conferences on the American and Asian truck and bus markets
The Truck and Bus World Forum 2007 will bring together on-road professionals from all over the world to exchange strategies and technical information, address industry issues, and develop business solutions to improve transport systems.
The event is aimed at truck and bus manufacturers, automotive Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, decision makers working in the public transport sector, and academic researchers in related fields.
In an increasingly globalised and competitive world, the economic, social, and environmental pressure on goods distribution and public transport in urban areas will continue to rise in the foreseeable future.
Road transport has a strategic role to play, since it carries more than 70 per cent of all goods by volume and more than 90 per cent by value.
Yet, energy shortages, CO2 emissions, and urban congestion are all critical issues that must also be taken into consideration.
Vehicle manufacturers, public transport operators, and legislators are trying to tackle these issues, by developing more efficient vehicles and transport systems solutions, in order to meet increasing economic demands and the need for sustainable development.
The Truck and Bus World Forum 2007 will hold conferences to discuss all these topics, in order to help participants develop strategies for the future.
The event is co-organised by the Rhone-Alpes region of southeastern France and the City of Lyon, with the support of the Rhone-Alpes Automotive Cluster, the Lyon Urban Truck and Bus 2015 cluster and Automotive Sweden.
It is coordinated by ERAI, the economic development agency for the Rhone-Alpes region.
Three key international strategic partners are also involved-the Society of Automotive Engineers, Global Insight, and the Chinese Automotive Review.
The Truck and Bus World Forum 2007 will bring together various partners such as Challenge Bibendum Michelin, the Chamber of Commerce of Lyon, Classe Export, Eurocities, IFP, INRETS, the Invest in France Agency, ITS Congress Association, Keolis, Proximum, the Scandinavian Automotive Suppliers Federation, Thesame, and UBIFRANCE (France's export-support agency).
