The DMA, ISBA and the ISP are backing a new accreditation scheme for response management companies to boost client confidence in the industry.

The Accredited Response Management (ARM) scheme will provide clients with a quality assurance by enabling response management companies to demonstrate that they offer a high standard of skills, professionalism and services to an independently accredited level Jan Morris chair, ARM Advisory Council, said: "This accreditation scheme will significantly reduce any clients' concerns about security and best practice

"With endorsements from three leading trade associations, clients can be confident that all ARM accredited companies have been thoroughly vetted and meet ARM's stringent standards of excellence".

The scheme, which has already received commendations from companies such as the BBC and Nestle, is now open for applications.

The DMA's compliance department have been appointed as the scheme administrators.

The initial part of the application process will comprise of a detailed Corporate and Activity application form.

This will then be supplemented by an audit site visit and client references.

On completion of these elements, accreditation to ARM will be granted for a 12-month period with renewal on an annual basis.

Alex Ricketts, marketing services manager, ISBA, said: "The scheme will offer vital reassurance to clients when choosing response management companies as well as giving an increasing number of highly sophisticated and professional organisations the recognition they deserve".

Clive Mishon, chairman of the ISP, said: "Consumers are more ready to complain about promotions than ever before, and we have seen how failure to comply in promotions can result in damage to brands' reputations.

"This scheme will go some way to tackling this by providing excellence in response management and delivering a modern accreditation that promoters and agencies alike can trust with confidence".
