Brand and interior design company 442 Design has been short-listed in the finals of The National Business Awards for Scotland 2008, sponsored by Orange.

442 Design is one of five companies to be short-listed in The Atos Origin Business Innovation of the Year Award David Dunn, Managing Director of 442 Design, commented: "We believe innovation is hugely important to our business so it is particularly pleasing to see this recognised by such a prestigious award

"As an interior and graphic design company we continually innovate across retail, leisure, hospitality and property sectors.

"This latest design can work across all of these areas".

The Awards, which recognise and reward business excellence, innovation and success, are uniquely open to organisations of all sizes from any industry sector public or private.

The finalists, including Scottish entrepreneurs, SMEs, multi-nationals and public sector bodies, will now prepare to make their presentations in person to a further panel of expert judges, including senior executives, academics and business specialists, from late July 2008.

Acknowledged as Scotland's leading showcase for achievement in business, The National Business Awards allows companies to benchmark their successes against organisations of all types.

Last year's winners included Kwik-Fit Financial Services, Glasgow Science Centre, Hilton Glasgow Hotel, Bigmouthmedia and Crieff Hydro.

Paul Tollet, Vice President Business Services, Orange UK, said: "I am constantly impressed by the quantity and quality of the entries for the National Business Awards for Scotland.

"The entrants demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation to succeed and I challenge anyone who doesn't believe Scottish businesses are at the vanguard of innovation and growth to meet with these finalists.

"All the finalists of the awards have shown passion, determination and originality - we wish them all luck in the final rounds of judging".

Mike Faulkner, Programme Director, The National Business Awards for Scotland, added: "It is encouraging to see the industry breadth the 2008 Scotland finalists represent.

"The National Business Awards for Scotland recognises business success, innovation and ethics and, with the economy showing signs of a slowdown it is encouraging to see the Scottish appetite for success in business growing stronger across many sectors".

The winners of the 13 categories will be unveiled at a glittering gala awards ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on Thursday 11 September 2008.
