Reconstruct increases accuracy of e-marketing
Data management provider Celerity has launched a product that has been used successfully by Nectar to correct addresses from bounced emails.
To reduce concerns over moving IT data securely, Humberside, Dorset, Bedfordshire and Leicestershire Police Constabularies are just four of the forces who have recently taken positive steps to protect their data with the use of the new Biometric iSecure USB flash drive from MicroRiver Global Distribution.
Most conventional USB flash drives have little if no security features; so if they are lost or stolen then anyone can access the data held on the USB stick via a PC.
However, this new Biometric USB drive has two levels of protection; a conventional password and Biometric security with the ability to store up to 10 finger print impressions.

Hence the user would need the password (if set up) or the correct finger print image to gain access to either the 1Gb, 2Gb, 4Gb, 8Gb or massive 16Gb USB Flash drives.
Roy MacDona, information security manager at Humberside Police, said: "The USB drives are plug-and-play, so are very easy to use, while giving us the added confidence that all data transferred is secure.
"The pricing of these devices enables us to replace old floppies, CDs and DVDs and with the capability of going up to (and beyond) 2Gb it has reduced the need to move the PC or laptop".
Typical applications for the smaller devices are to store MS Office data - such as Word, PowerPoint etc, while the larger storage volumes have benefits in capturing high-resolution, scene of crime images and video-capture in-car number plate recognition systems.
Indeed with the storage capacity actually going up to 16Gb for the largest USB drive, the option is there to load whole programs if needed.
David Ewen believes that with the increasing use of unsecure mobile devices by government and industry creating a major problem with data leakage, using biometric USB keys to improve the mobility and security of important data is the way forward.
"iSecure protects all your data from unwanted access by using your unique fingerprint", he said.
"You can save up to 10 different fingerprints to gain access to the data stored on your Biometric Flash Drive.
"If you lose your biometric storage device, the finder can see your contact details but can't see your protected data.
"iSecure also offers the No Trace Browsing function so all data related to internet surfing (cookies, cache, history) are stored on the portable storage device and not on the used PC and so can be deleted afterwards.
"It also allows you to take all your personal data wherever you want to go: users can send and receive e-mails from any computer that has Windows, have their favourite internet links with them and access them from any computer, the regular way or with No Trace Browsing.
"It allows users to work anywhere they want and carry their files with them.
"All this with an interface available in 17 languages and yet easy to use".
