Code Computerlove is short for Waterstone's

A Code Computerlove product story

Book retailer Waterstone's is celebrating the National Year of Reading with a short-story competition being promoted in-store and via a microsite www.waterstoneswys.com created by Code Computerlove.

Waterstone's is looking for any budding writer who wants to be published alongside authors such as JK Rowling, Doris Lessing, Michael Rosen, Nick Hornby, Sebastian Faulks, Lauren Child, Tom Stoppard and Irvine Welsh.

People simply write a story from three words long to 300 - just as long as it fits onto the story card template.

A selection of entries are being published in an online gallery on the What's Your Story microsite at www.waterstoneswys.com and bespoke stories written by the top authors especially for the promotion will also be displayed in an online gallery and in store windows from 11 June 2008.

Three lucky winners, two adults and one child from online and store entries, will be selected by a panel of judges and their stories will appear in a postcard book, alongside top authors' stories.

All profits from the sale of the postcard book go to Dyslexia Action and English PEN.

As well as appearing alongside some of the world's greatest living authors, the national winners aged over 18 will also win an Arvon Writing Course and winners under 18 will receive GBP500 of Waterstone's vouchers.

Visitors to the site can simply follow the instructions to submit a story online, then use the tools provided to design exactly how they'd like their story to look when it's published to the online gallery.

The microsite is being promoted via the main Waterstone's website, through PR and on social networking sites such as Facebook and Bebo.

Code Computerlove has worked as Waterstone's retained digital agency for the past couple of years.

It is responsible for the Waterstone's website www.waterstones.com, as well as promotional sites.
