Social network for grown-ups launches

A Compass Internet product story
Edited by the Marketingservicestalk editorial team Oct 15, 2007

Compass Internet has announced a new website, MyBestFive.com, a social network for grown-ups.

"Why a social network for grown-ups?" asked Mike Howell, CEO of Compass.

"There are many, many thousands of people who have a story to tell, and nowhere to tell it.

"The Guardian newspaper has a feature in the Saturday magazine that gives a platform for readers to relate their own experiences, and these are always a fascinating read.

"There are many social networking sites with a huge base of readers, but these are, in the main, a place to meet old and new friends, upload your current status and generally communicate about life in general, and sometimes about events in particular.

"MyBestFive.com on the other hand is a place to write about your life, the experiences that have happened along the way, to communicate and perhaps meet people with similar backgrounds".

The site is completely free to use, to read any of the stories, although it does require free registration to gain the maximum benefit.

You must be 16 years of age or older and you can remain anonymous if you wish.

The site is new, is constantly being upgraded and waiting for new visitors to come and tell their story.

Of course, it has instant messaging and chat with audio and video soon to be implemented.

Private Areas where only people you invite have access and Groups are particularly innovative features.

"The purpose is to encourage visitors not to be passive and just read about other people but to relate to the world about their own life's experience," said Howell.

"We all have a story to tell and if not a story, an incident that people would love to read about.

"In the past, we learned about other people's lives by their biography or autobiography.

"Now, we can all write about our own life, and for many, there is a fabulous story to tell".
