CMW Interactive has designed a high-quality, user-friendly interface for the Arts Council's new intranet, called 'One Place',

One Place aims to unify the Arts Council's nine regions and national office through one communication portal and to support dialogue throughout the national development agency for the arts in England.

CMW Interactive has delivered a highly accessible and visually exciting template-based structure for the One Place intranet, designed to hold the Arts Council content.

All Arts Council staff have access to upload content and will keep the site updated with news, policies and other information that keep everyone up-to-date with latest developments.

CMW Interactive's sleek design for the portal's homepage works from right to left, progressing logically from broad organisational and national information to personalised information and resources, including a 'my space' area, where users can upload their own photo, create bookmarks and engage in forums.

The navigational bar is divided into five clearly defined areas; strategies and priorities, campaigning and advocacy, development and investment, arts projects and initiatives and evaluation and research.

The site also includes an interactive regional map, a calendar of internal and external events and an image library and news.

David Smith, head of CMW Interactive, said: "The intranet marks a milestone in the history of the Arts Council as a single organisation, following the merger of regional arts boards several years ago.

"One Place provides a central point of information, news and contact for all its employees, delivering fluent and effective communication across the whole organisation and will be a strong unifying force.

"The watchwords of the project in terms of design were 'world class usability' and 'vibrancy'.

"Our aim as a team working with the Arts Council and its other implementation and accessibility partners was to design a professional and effective interface that would allow the Arts Council's staff to work better together and reflect the spirit of the organisation".

Shiona Hastie, Head of Internal Communications at the Arts Council, said: "The intranet defines internal communication as the interesting, lively medium it can be when done well.

"The teams have worked brilliantly together to deliver us a uniformly excellent way to operate more effectively and efficiently as one organisation.

"Moreover, while many intranets can present content in a dull fashion, CMW Interactive has created a resource which is also visually inspiring".

CMW Interactive is the digital division of communications agency CMW.
