Luxury independent hotels consortium Classic British Hotels has added another four hotels to its portfolio of high quality 3, 4 and 5 star hotels across Britain.

This takes the number of new members signing since the turn of the year to 12, and the Classic British portfolio to 74 properties overall.

The four new additions are Appleby Manor Country House in Cumbria, Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel and Spa near Newport, Gwent, the Ilsington Country House near Newton Abbot in Devon and Whitley Hall in Sheffield.

All are within easy reach of national transport networks.

The 31-bed Appleby Manor is located by the North Pennines and dates from the 19th century.

Cwrt Bleddyn lies in 50 acres of gardens and has full leisure facilities, Ilsington Country House has 25 bedrooms, five meeting rooms and leisure facilities too, and Whitley Hall, a 16th century ivy-clad mansion set in beautiful gardens with mature trees and two small lakes, stands out from other hotels in Sheffield.

Classic British Hotels' CEO Len Louis explains why his portfolio is expanding: "We only accept hotels across a tightly defined quality band; we also operate as a very cohesive group and provide centralised solutions to fragmented issues, such as technology.

"So when we are dealing with TMCs and HBAs we are in a position to deliver the same sort of central purchasing power that a group would provide in negotiations.

"Our members are all exclusive to our organisation, they can't belong to any others and we speak on their behalf".

Many more hotels are earmarked to join Classic British Hotels over the coming months.
