Safety fears drive hotel investment in
security
British hotels have had to step up security with the passage of the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act through parliament which raises customer concerns over safety.
British hotels are having to up their game in wake of events around the world that have raised customer concerns over safety to much higher levels, according to Len Louis, CEO of independent hotels consortium Classic British Hotels "Events around the world have inevitably increased leisure customers' awareness of safety," he said

"And with companies facing possible prosecution if their employees are hurt - or worse - whilst travelling on business, guest security is uppermost in hoteliers' minds right now.
"Most of our hotels either already have, or are fitting CCTV, are upgrading bedroom locks from conventional keys to the swipe type, and are implementing a series of additional measures throughout their properties".
The importance attached to corporate schemes promoting the specific needs of mainly corporate female travellers is now greater than ever, according to Louis: "It has become an industry expectation to be focused on the needs of the women travellers.
"Failure causes customer dissatisfaction and ultimately loss of business to an operator who will meet their needs".
So how do heightened guest concerns about security manifest themselves? Tim Bell of Classic British Hotels member Lancaster House Hotel said: "The usual questions about the facilities of the family room have now been superseded by questions on bedroom location, locking and proximity to public doors.
"It is unfortunate that it takes tragedies occurring around the world to bring this matter to public attention, but hopefully this will help drive standards up across the British hotel industry.".
