QinetiQ's graduate advertising campaign, designed by agency aia, has picked up the Grand Prix at the 2007 CIPD Recruitment Marketing Awards in partnership with the Guardian.

The inventive campaign builds on QinetiQ's employer brand to successfully target talented science and engineering graduates The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's (CIPD) annual awards in partnership with the Guardian promote innovative recruitment marketing and aim to raise standards across the industry

Getting recruitment marketing right is essential and recent CIPD research shows that 84% of organisations now experience recruitment difficulties.

These difficulties are particularly acute in organisations like QinetiQ, which operate in the field of science and technology, given the long-term decline in numbers of science and engineering graduates.

QinetiQ embraced this challenge, working with agency aia, to design an effective recruitment marketing campaign to attract the best candidates.

This year's chair of judges, Helen Rosethorn, UK Chief Executive of the Bernard Hodes Group, said: "QinetiQ has built a clear proposition in a tight labour market, using both its brand, and a series of adverts and tools to engage students as potential recruits.

"QinetiQ's entry stood out, striking a successful balance between producing a distinctive, stand-out campaign while avoiding gimmicks.

"They provide graduates with a suite of material, encapsulating a large amount of detail in an engaging manner and inviting them to get to know more about the organisation".

This year's awards also included a new category, online marketing, to reflect developments in technology and online recruitment.

This was awarded to National Air Traffic Services, who joined forces with agency aia to design an advert that used a puzzle to test spatial awareness.
