Chartridge bucks recession with refurbishment
The Chartridge Conference Company has announced that it is investing more than GBP400,000 in a major refurbishment programme across its five venues.
The major refurbishment is at the Beeches conference and training centre at Bournville Park, Birmingham, where more than GBP135,000 has been invested in gutting 24 of the small bedrooms.
These have been converted into 12 modern, bright and spacious rooms providing a flat-screen TV on the wall, free wireless internet and two modem points for those without wireless internet capabilities.
The bathrooms have also been renovated and fitted with larger showers.
A further GBP50,000 has been invested in upgrading the electric infrastructure in the kitchens, which will not only conform to the most stringent health and safety legislation but also increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
This work was completed at the end of January.
In Hertfordshire, Hitchin Priory is investing over GBP170,000 on renovating the bathrooms in all its bedrooms by redesigning to provide more room and installing larger shower units at an average cost of GBP6,500 per room.
Some rooms have already been completed and the project will continue in phases through 2009 to minimise inconvenience to clients.
Nearby at the Node's, more than GBP40,000 has been used to upgrade and update the facilities in the custom-built training centre.
Swindon-based Lydiard House has just completed an investment of more than GBP23,000 to refurbish the restaurant with new blinds, carpets and chairs, with further refurbishment carried out in the corridors, front entrance and fitness room.
