Cheapflights, the online flight price search and comparison site, is maintaining its leading position as a major referrer of high quality leads to its UK advertising partners.

Cheapflights pioneered online flight price search and comparison in 1996.

According to UK Hitwise's figures for the week ended 22 September, Cheapflights.co.uk was the third largest referrer of leads to their Travel - Agencies sector after Google and Yahoo Search - UK and Ireland.

Cheapflights' consistent performance as a generator of leads is underlined by the fact that over the past five years, the Cheapflights.co.uk flights price comparison site has consistently featured in the UK Hitwise Top 10 Awards rankings ("travel - agencies sector").

In the same week ending 22 September for referrals to Hitwise UK's Aviation-Commercial Airlines sector, Cheapflights was 4th largest referrer of leads after Google, Thomson Holidays and Easyjet.

On a monthly basis for June, July and August 2007, Cheapflights.co.uk has been the only travel vertical search site to feature in the Hitwise top ten list of upstream websites for the 'Aviation - Commercial Airlines' industry sector.

As the UK's first online vertical search and comparison site for flight price deals, Cheapflights is able to cite further independent evidence that is maintaining its popularity amongst UK consumers as well as the travel industry.

This is provided by Nielsen//NetRatings' traffic statistics for August for multicategory travel sites.

These measure travel sites' traffic emanating from both work place and home computers.

In August 2007, Nilesen//NetRating's statistics place Cheapflights at number seven after leading travel companies such as Lastminute, Expedia, and TUI, all of whom have been significant advertisers on Cheapflights in 2007.

According to Nielsen//NetRatings', Cheapflights has experienced a 17.4 per cent increase in unique users year on year - Cheapflights spent nothing on offline advertising during this period.

In the USA, Boston-based Cheapflights.com has been steadily gaining market share according to US Hitwise statistics.

Last week, it achieved a 2.18 per cent market share of its category, its highest ever level.
