Commidea makes event card payments safe
Hosting a calendar of corporate hospitality events at the UK's major sporting and social venues, Sodexho Prestige required a safe, secure, mobile method of accepting card payments from guests.
Without a reliable card processing solution, the firm would be unable to check for fraudulent or failed transactions in real-time - potentially costing them thousands of pounds in lost revenue To overcome this, the firm chose Ocius VX610 from Commidea - a unique, 100 per cent mobile, Chip and PIin solution that requires no bank testing and can be implemented alongside any retail or hospitality POS set-up
Available as a mobile or a fixed counter top solution, Ocius is by far the simplest and most cost-effective route to credit and debit card acceptance.
Pre-approved by all major banks, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming testing, it is easy to install and operate.
With its events often held in remote rural locations, from major golf tournaments to horse racing and football matches, Sodexho opted for the mobile Ocius solution, to deliver added flexibility and versatility.
The firm currently operates around 40 handheld Ocius VX610 terminals, each one programmed to accept a series of pin numbers unique to each event.
"If we didn't have the Ocius system, taking payments of any kind, aside from cash, would present real problems for us," said Nick Gristock, Manager at Sodexho Prestige.
"The issue has always been finding a solution that we can use at any site, however remote, which is safe, trustworthy and inexpensive to run - with Ocius, we've achieved all that and more".
Developed by leading card payment processing provider Commidea, this bespoke solution enables Sodexho to calculate the value of event transactions from each terminal - and even use them at a different venue later that day.
For example, ten Ocius VX610 terminals used at an Ascot event can then be re-deployed to the Chelsea Flower Show utilising a different log-in pin code to keep the transactions separate.
Transactions are completed in three stages.
First, the retailer keys in the value and inserts the card to take payment.
The transaction is then sent to Commidea for authorisation via a leading mobile communications network.
Finally, two receipts are produced - one for the customer, one for the retailer.
The Ocius VX610 solution is based around the Verifone simple to use, hand held VX610 terminal.
Using GPRS for permanent connection, without any call charges, transactions are completed in a matter of seconds, from virtually any location.
Fully hosted and managed, the service is backed by technical support seven days a week and utilises X.25, the fastest card authorisation communications network.
Supported by major UK banks, organisations using multiple terminals also receive detailed, centralised reporting and management information.
This makes Ocius by far the safest and most versatile method of accepting debit and credit cards whilst effectively eliminating the threat of fraudulent transactions.
The system is EMV and PED certified; supports IP, end-to-end SSL security and 3DES encryption, ensuring transactions are completely secure.
