Capscan address management products are now certified compatible with comprehensive SAP application range.
As a result, UCAS is able to avoid wasted postal and administration costs related to returned mail, as well as the potential penalty charges incurred.
Last year 99.7 per cent of applicants to higher education completed their application with UCAS online, using its Apply service.
The previous version of Apply required applicants to enter their address in full with no validation process or standard format, resulting in a large number of returned mailings, such as confirmation letters, caused by incorrect data.
"Applying for higher education is a stressful time for many people and so we were looking to streamline the whole process to make it easier, faster and more enjoyable, as well as ensuring high quality data capture," explained Project Manager at UCAS, Nick Neale-Brown.
"We selected Capscan's Matchcode Webnet to integrate into Apply because it provided us with the functionality we required at the most competitive price".
Matchcode Webnet processes either an entered postcode or partial address (where the postcode is unknown) against the Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF) to return the correct address, in real time, with the minimum number of keystrokes.
As a result, UCAS ensures it is maintaining a clean, high quality database, an efficient service and important letters reach the right address.
Managing Director of Capscan, Terry Hiles, added: "Matchcode Webnet has also critically helped speed up the whole application process, which invariably gives the user a much enhanced form-filling experience in the short term and a quicker comprehensive service from UCAS".
