The BPMA has set up a website that aims to be the official sourcing portal for the promotional merchandise industry

The trade association of the British promotional merchandise industry has launched a new website that went live in February Purpose designed to give the power to members so they can ensure the latest information on the products they sell is up to date and relevant, the BPMA website has been positioned to boost service and support new business sales for members, in addition to offering hugely beneficial services and information to the entire industry

The fresh and vibrant website is the result of a year-long project in partnership with new media specialist e-mango to design and build the most relevant, useful and technologically advanced resource for the promotional product industry.

BPMA chairman David Lebond commented: "The new BPMA website will provide a superb marketing and lead generating opportunity for all members.

It has been positioned to be the primary information hub of the promotional merchandise industry, designed to streamline the sourcing process, carrying all the latest news and including more business-focused content.

Every effort has been made to ensure this website is seen as the professional voice of the industry, promoting and upholding the standards which our members aspire to.

It will be a centre of excellence for all buyers." Users of the website will see three main areas.

Products and suppliers zone: this is expected to be the most used area of the website where visitors and members can search for products and services and request those they can't find.

Members area: here members can update and change their own details and product listings online and have access to more information on benefits and services.

Public area: open to anyone visiting the website where information on industry exhibitions and events can be found.

Special features include the Getting it Right Guides, which anyone can download.

There are more than 40 guides on all key industry issues and topics from sourcing merchandise to buying clothing to obtaining a quote.

In future the new website will be fully payment automated: members will be able to sign up or renew their membership, buy space to advertise their company on the website or in the monthly product email, access industry reports and a range of other business-focused content.

Services and benefits that the website will offer include advanced user interactive data.

Of the 250,000 page views per month, member companies with listings will be able to keep track of promotional campaigns with real-time statistics in the member administrative area.

Included in Advanced members' subscriptions is Your Showcase!, an opportunity to upload pictures of their latest products onto a microsite within their company profile.

Advanced and standard members will receive an increased number of listings that will appear when a visitor searches for a specific category or product.

All BPMA members will be given ample opportunities to promote their brand as the website features multiple banner advertising and sponsorship opportunities.

BPMA board director and website project manager Gill Thorpe commented: "This website is one of the most significant investments for the BPMA and we look forward to the positive difference it will make to members' business and the industry requirements." The new BPMA website will be live at the Promotional Marketing Exhibition on 17-19 April where visitors will be able to test its new functions, advanced navigation and search options, and sample the rich information bank.
