Iconic Midlands landmark Birmingham Town Hall will be branded by Boxer - the UK's fastest-growing design consultancy - following the building's £35 million overhaul.

Boxer has been briefed to create brand identities for Town Hall and Symphony Hall, ahead of the Town Hall's highly anticipated launch in October 2007 The Town Hall was acclaimed at its opening in 1834 as the finest Music Hall in the country, the Grade 1 listed landmark is now being lovingly and painstakingly renovated

Affectionately known as the Pride of Birmingham, the hall was originally paid for by the people of Birmingham and its imposing neo-classical design still dominates the city skyline.

"The project is close to our hearts," said Boxer's Business Development Director Giles Poyner.

"We, as a business, have invested financially, emotionally, creatively and passionately in Birmingham over the years and it's fantastic to be able to give something back to the community.

"After surveying public opinion, we found there was a great fondness and buzz about the building reopening after ten years of development.

"It is a building of massive historical importance to the area and we are honoured to be working with a brand that will be around for years to come".

The project will also take into account the branding of Symphony Hall, which is to move from the NEC Group to a new Trust - Performance Birmingham.

The Symphony Hall opened in 1991 to immediate public and critical praise.

It was instantly acknowledged both as the UK's finest contemporary concert hall and one of the best in the world, a position it retains today.

The new identity will continue to establish the NGO's independence and communicate the building's status as first-class performance, community and corporate venues.

Andrew Jowett, Chief Executive Officer at Performances Birmingham, said: "The Town Hall will reopen renovated and rejuvenated, so we want a strong identity that will reflect this.

"We went with Boxer because we were impressed by their simple yet robust branding process; but it was their passion and customer-focused approach that ultimately made our minds up".

Boxer was appointed to the project following a five-way pitch.
