BIG Conference covers B2B research for
clients
This year's conference, on the subject of B2B Marketing: the issues and the practice and taking place in Chepstow on 21-23 May, has more client involvement than ever before.
Rather than just debating the practice of B2B research in isolation, the conference will be covering many B2B issues affecting our clients and the way B2B research needs to respond to those challenges At the same time, this perspective will be complemented by contributions from both large and small agencies covering the practice of B2B research, including new techniques

Conference tackles B2B marketing industry
May 21 to 23 sees this year's BIG Conference - the conference designed for business to business marketers and market researchers.
So if you want to know what B2B issues our clients are currently dealing with, how B2B research fits into the wider economy, and the latest trends, then don't miss the 2008 BIG Conference.
We are pleased to welcome Dr Roger Palmer, Professor of Marketing and Management at Henley Management College, as our opening keynote speaker.
He has substantial senior management experience and his consultancy work includes the implementation of strategy in manufacturing and technology businesses and the development of marketing programmes and activities.
This first session will set the scene and cover hot topics in the business world today including co-creation of value and new approaches to marketing, return on investment and customer centricity.
Next we have the client perspective, with contributions from highly regarded companies such as RBS, Nokia and Dow talking to us about the issues their organisations are facing; where B2B research fits in; what pressures they face as research buyers and how market research is used alongside other forms of data.
Dave Gidney from Dow will then chair the next session, covering emerging approaches to data integration within client organisations, data mining and holistic consultancy.
The second day, focusing on the practice of B2B research, starts with three joint agency and client presentations from Royal Mail, The Highways Agency and BT.
This session will explore different approaches to building customer value, including models to create sustainable partnerships, stakeholder relationships and customer focus.
New techniques are covered in detail, with Friday's session about word of mouth in marketing communications and how to develop, manage and analyse data from B2B online communities.
The psychology of words, blogging and Facebook for researchers and best practice on migration from a telephone study to an online approach are new techniques to learn in the interactive workshops on Thursday afternoon.
In addition to the format change with more active participation - beginning with the Client QandA session - on Friday we will also have a lively debate about procurement with audience votes.
We are delighted that Mark Earls will wind up the conference with an informative and entertaining session on Friday afternoon.
He is a leading thinker on brands, marketing and consumer behaviour and has been described as "one of the smartest thinkers in marketing today".
His book 'Herd: how to change mass behaviour by harnessing our true nature', challenges our received wisdom about mass behaviour and develops an alternative model rooted in our 'Herd' nature.
The two-day programme will appeal to anyone wanting to be up-to-date on the latest issues facing B2B clients, as well as on the latest practice within the B2B research world.
The conference is well known for its mix of the serious and fun, with great opportunities for social networking and relaxing in a picturesque spot.
