B2B social networking now only a click away
Social networking sites have united people across the globe - now companies will be able to tap into this phenomenon with their own business networking forums.
It is a huge achievement for a relative minnow based in Wilmslow.
But Glasgow-born McGruer says the secret of success for Aurora - derived from the Latin word for dawn - is its unique software, which is a closely guarded secret.
She said: "My background is in consultancy, and I was in contact with various people who were developing what has become the world's leading email marketing software ".They had attracted huge names from the corporate world, including jeans giant Levi's, which invested GBP60m into its development.
"After securing the sole UK licence for the software, we were able to brand it under the Aurora name".
McGruer, who won't reveal the software's origin, says that Aurora now has the luxury of having the world's top product, which gives her company huge leverage in the marketplace.
She also says that it will be many years before other companies can get their hands on anything vaguely similar.
Most of Aurora's work comes via word of mouth and from companies who see the visible results of its online campaigns for their peers.
But perhaps the added beauty for McGruer, who is armed with a plethora of qualifications from marketing and IT to psychology and graphic design, is that she can do most of the work herself.
She added: "Because of my design and IT background, I source the required data and then design and implement the campaigns myself ".
My clients have their own log-ins to access the campaign results and can then analyse the stats themselves.
"Email marketing is a huge growth industry which I am looking to capitalise on, and Aurora is a very low labour but high margin business".
Aurora acts for international conglomerates as well as for companies from the construction and industrial arenas that are looking to launch highly specialised products into the marketplace - a skill McGruer acquired while working for American multinational JLG.
It also offers SMEs a range of online marketing solutions, and it was their needs that inspired the launch of her second venture, networking forum Business Consort.
