Hotel staff have been collecting their unwanted cards to help the Trust hit its 2008 target of recycling over 100 million cards across the UK Aston staff collected hundreds of cards and this week the Woodland Trust's North East Woodland officer, Gary Haley, was on hand to collect their contribution

Haley said: "What a fantastic effort by Aston Hotels: the Trust would like to thank everyone who has recycled their Christmas cards; all these collections will enable us to plant 24,000 trees this year".

Aston Darlington's manager, Tracey Campbell, said: "I am very proud of my team; so often old Christmas cards are just put in the bin and go to landfill, but this year everyone here has backed the Woodland Trust's campaign.
