National Business Awards honour

At The National Business Awards 2007 Huddersfield-based translation company Applied Language Solutions was awarded the AXA Small to Medium-Sized Business of the Year Award.
The language services company became a contender for the national accolade following its success at the Manchester ceremony in July, where it became the AXA small to medium-sized business of the year for the North East of England At this regional award ceremony it was also highly commended in three other categories

Applied Language Chief Executive and founder Gavin Wheeldon was elated when they announced the winner.

The AXA Small to Medium-Sized Business of the Year Award was awarded to Applied Language for the overall innovation of the company.
It acknowledges the fact that it is constantly highlighting the importance of management excellence in maintaining a successful business and has big plans for continued growth in the future.
Wheeldon said: "Although this is a UK-based award we could not have achieved this level of success without the hard work and commitment of the staff in all of our offices around the world.
"Applied Language is a team effort and this award confirms that".
The National Business Awards is a leading programme in recognising excellence in business.
The programme offers winners more than just the opportunity to lift a trophy at the renowned ceremony as in addition to this award, Applied Language Solutions has won a place on the AXA SME Masterclass that takes place in France and is offered a three-day course to finely tune its management and business skills by some of AXA's leading business experts.
In just over three years, Wheeldon has driven his highly successful translation and interpretation into an international operation with sales over GBP3.7 million, despite not being able to speak any foreign tongues.
What was once a one-man business operating from his back bedroom is now an award-winning company.
