Alterian, the global integrated marketing platform provider, has announced the availability of a new release of its Marketing Data Infrastructure software, Engine 4.0.

The software is designed to house all the information marketers need in order to analyse and execute integrated multichannel marketing programmes, in addition to providing improved performance and scalability Alterian's Engine 4.0 supports multi-tenancy - allowing multiple instances of the marketing data infrastructure to run on a single server - reducing the number of disparate software products and associated hardware required, and increasing the utilisation of existing hardware investments

It also greatly reduces hardware costs and administration and maintenance overhead costs.

This is applicable to both a hosted environment, where hardware costs and associated overhead are decreased, as well as on-premise installations, where the marketer desires multiple data marts.

Deployment configurations for Engine 4.0 range in size and are flexible to meet a client's evolving needs.

Alterian's Engine 4.0 also allows for increased scalability and speed, providing marketers with the means to keep up with rapidly escalating volumes of web and transaction data.

New features deliver enhanced support for high-volume database loads and provide users with upgraded administration and monitoring functions as well as advanced control over how instances utilise hardware resources.

These capabilities support advanced analytics, due to a higher volume of data that can be processed by the Alterian Marketing Data Infrastructure.

The software also brings users a distributed processing framework that permits multiple processes in parallel across multiple CPUs or multiple servers, which will result in improved data load times that will be beneficial for large deployments or those deployments with strict database update timing requirements.

"Alterian's Engine 4.0 addresses a critical demand in the marketplace," said Christian Wright, Chief Technology Officer for Merkle.

"The role of the marketing department is expanding and organisations need the ability to embrace expansion without fear of outgrowing their marketing platforms.

"Engine 4.0 supports the advanced analytics marketers should come to expect as well as the scalability that will allow them to reach full potential.

"On top of this, the Alterian Marketing Services Platform's support for distributed processing and multi-tenancy reduces the total cost of ownership, making it a logical choice for any organisation seeking cost-effective excellence".

"Alterian has been growing rapidly thanks to its compelling capabilities - marketer-friendly analytics that drive action across multiple online and offline channels, all from a single data infrastructure and set of applications," said David Eldridge, CEO of Alterian.

"We deliver all this at a much lower total cost of ownership than other solutions which is always important.

"However, with the current uncertain economic climate, and marketers increasingly looking to ensure their budgets are spent in the most effective way, we have continued to focus on driving down the cost of implementing and running the enterprise marketing platform that must underpin their efforts whether their data resources be large or small.

"Our announcement delivers a further reduction in total cost of ownership for Alterian users".
