AEO announces shortlist for Excellence

Out of 43 companies that have made the shortlist for the AEO Excellence Awards, to be announced on 14 June, three companies are dominating the list - Clarion, CMPi and Opex.

CMP Information and Clarion both have five events in the shortlist, and Opex has been nominated in four categories There are strong showings too from Brand Events and Melville Exhibition and Events Services

A record 44 judges gathered together at CMPi London offices on Friday 20 April, to decide who will be in the spotlight at the 2007 AEO Excellence Awards.

Following feedback from the membership, some amendments have been made to the categories, nomination and judging process.

"This year the number and quality of entries has been high, and it's no surprise that our judges had a hard time carefully considering each entry and deciding on a winner for each category", commented Hilary Lawson, AEO Director.

These are the shortlisted finalists for the 2007 AEO Excellence Awards.

Shell Scheme Services: Early Action Group (EAG), Melville Exhibitions and Events Services, Opex Exhibition Services, Stanco Exhibitions.

Electrical Services: Early Action Group (EAG), Melville Exhibitions and Events Services, Opex Exhibition Services, Showlite, Stanco Exhibitions.

Exhibition Logistics: Agility Fairs and Events Logistics, CEVA Showfreight, International Lifting and Shipping, Melville Exhibitions and Events Services, Yorkshire Exhibition Services.

Original Stand / Feature Design and Build: BMW Group at London International Motor Show - TRIO, Xerox at IPEX 2006 - MICE Group.

Venue Facilities Development and Innovation: ExCeL London, Royal Horticultural Halls and Conference Centre, The Roundhouse.

Venue Customer Service: ECandO Venues, Novotel London West, Sandown Park Racecourse, The International Centre, Telford.

Product Supplier of the Year: Aztec Event Services - A/V Streaming Technologies, Expo-Systems (a division of OPEX) - A new fast track self-registration system, Opex Exhibition Services - Online Floor Plans.

Service Supplier of the Year: Answers Training International, Dragonfly, Penny Banks, Showlite, SMS Group.

Contractor/Venue/Organiser Employees of the Year: Bob Clarke, Agility Fairs and Events Logistics; Brian Cole, ExCel London; Linda Ritchie, The NEC Group.

Best Launch Show - Trade: Cafe Culture 2006 - Upper Street Events, FESPA Digital Printing Europe 2006 - FESPA, Wine+ - Fresh RM.

Best Launch Show - Consumer: The Baby Show in association with Bounty, sponsored by Volvo - Clarion Events; The Great Big Home and Furniture Store - Media 10 Limited; International Caravan and Motorhome 2006 - Clarion Events; MPH '07 Johannesburg - Brand Events / Clarion / JCRM Events South Africa; MS Life - MS Society; Taste of Dublin - Brand Events.

Consumer Show of the Year: A Place in the Sun Live! - Brooklands Exhibitions; Clothes Show Live - Haymarket Exhibitions; Grand Designs Live 2006 - Media 10; International Caravan and Motorhome 2006 - Clarion Events; The Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show - dmg world media; Taste of London - Brand Events.

Environmental Sustainability Award: CMP Information, ECandO Venues, Exoplan and Opex Group, Reeds Carpeting Contractors.

Best Event of the Year (NON EXHIBITION) NEW: The Publican Pub Food Awards - CMP Information; The Publican Awards 2007 - CMP Information; Sheds - The Networking Event - CMP Information.

The winners of the 2007 AEO Excellence Awards will be announced on 14 June at the riverside venue of Old Billingsgate, London.

Guests will be treated to a three-course gala lunch, with unlimited drinks (beer, wine and soft drinks) up to the end of the Awards ceremony.

Once the 2007 winners have been announced and while the Champagne corks are still popping for the chosen few, guests will be invited to make their way to the post Awards party, which will take place in The Vault at Old Billingsgate.
